The following, proposed headquarters for the Municipal Art Society acts as a new urban center; a public forum for both Greenwich Village and New York City at large. Though the neighborhood has transformed dramatically over time, the street has constantly served as the conduit of activity, whether positively or negatively charged.
The MAS headquarters opens its public forum to the energy of the street and welcomes the street into the building. This gesture generates a third path at the divide of Gansevoort and West 13th, while visually connecting the two through complete transparency at street level. The new MAS takes community engagement back to the street to promote a sustainable future for living in New York City.
