A dome is an architectural element that resembles the hollow upper half of a sphere. The circle represents perfection, eternity. The surface embodies the celestial, heavenly existence beyond. The oculus acts as a window between the known and the unknown.
This installation situates itself within the discourse of small or fetishized “tiny” spaces in contemporary architecture. While the structural typology of the dome is associated with expansive assembly, it is instead shrunken to the intropsective scale of the indivdual. A false oculus questions the privacy of the inhabitant as he/she becomes part of the installation.
